St Paul's Cathedral

A Cathedral dedicated to St Paul has overlooked the City of London since 604AD, a constant reminder to this great commercial centre of the importance of the spiritual side of life.

The current Cathedral – the fourth to occupy this site – was designed by the court architect Sir Christopher Wren and built between 1675 and 1710 after its predecessor was destroyed in the Great Fire of London. Its architectural and artistic importance reflect the determination of the five monarchs who oversaw its building that London’s leading church should be as beautiful and imposing as their private palaces.

As the Cathedral of the capital city, St Paul’s is the spiritual focus for the Nation. This is where people and events of overwhelming importance to the country have been celebrated, mourned and commemorated since the first Service took place in 1697.

The Wren Suite, which includes a main room, and the adjoining Beehive (a circular, domes anti-chamber) is available for both day and evening hire. It can cater for business meetings, lunches and dinners for up to 75 people. Both of the rooms have vaulted ceilings, golden stone walls and combine the peace and splendour of Sir Christopher Wren's neo classical masterpiece with the comfort and convenience of 21st century audio visual facilities.

The Crypt at St Paul's Cathedral is the largest in Europe and is a wonderful space in which to host larger corporate events. The inspiring surroundings are the final resting place of some of the nation's greatest heroes, poets and scientists including Sir Christopher Wren, Admiral Lord Nelson and the Duke of Wellington.

The Temple Bar is a unique structure that marked the gateway to the City of London for 200 years, however, the building has been moved around during it's lifetime, and was recently moved to its present location in Paternoster Square.
