Merlin Productions - Amazing 2007

19 December 2007

2007 has been a very exciting year for Merlin, with projects in Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

Star-studded
Most recently the team was in Dubai for the Film Festival, where it organised a party for Sharon Stone with Dita Von Teese, Gloria Estefan, Michelle Yeoh, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen to name but a few of the guests.  This was a star studded affair with the world media and paparazzi attending.  The team created a stunning ballroom in the desert complete with mirror balls and stages as well as a 30 metre red carpet and branding board area.  All was open to the beautiful clear desert skies, surrounded by sand dunes and the occasional onlooking camel.  The finale of course was a spectacularly choreographed three minute fireworks display. Star-tastic
Merlin has been working alongside Jamie Oliver and the Fifteen Foundation again this year and earlier this month created a fantastic party in the Atrium at Bloomberg.  There were some great prizes up for auction with a few thrown in last minute from guest Graeme Le Saux and Jamie himself.  Its new best friend Ronan Keating turned up to do an intimate acoustic set, followed by Guilty Pleasures on the decks with their usual mix of smash hits to get everyone on the dancefloor.

Raising money for Cancer Research
In November, the team celebrated the second year running of Ronan Keating’s Emerald and Ivy Ball.  Last year’s inaugural ball was held at the Roundhouse in London and this year the party was at Old Billingsgate with both Westlife and Boyzone present as well as Rod Stewart and a late night appearance from Bon Jovi.  Ronan gave his audience a stunning performance, encouraging them to raise just over half a million pounds for Cancer Research.

Busy bees
Earlier in the year, Merlin’s team was busy in Sydney where it launched Etihad, the newest airline of the United Arab Emirates.  It designed and created a party at one of city’s foremost bars overlooking Sydney harbour - Wildfire.  Flame throwers welcomed the guests who were then handed specially designed cocktails and canapes which were a fusion of Australian and Arabic delicacies.  To the surprise and delight of the guests, the usual backdrop of the Sydney Harbour Opera House disappeared, and in place we had the image of the latest Etihad plane landing.
