The LondonMICE team had a brush with royalty recently, when Her Majesty the Queen visited Union Street to officially open the new HQ of the London Fire Brigade.
In a flurry of regal excitement the team practiced their curtsies and readied themselves for the big moment; Moira calling ahead to make sure her outfit coordinated and Jerry fine tuning his royal chat-up line.
A former acquaintance?
The police-escorted entourage drew up to a mêlée of flashing cameras and over-eager paparazzi, all jostling for the money shot of her royal highness. However, no sooner had magisterial toe touched red carpet when she turned to Jerry and beckoned him over, inviting the LM team to join him! Unbeknownst to all (except Jerry) the two had met previously at an engagement in Willesden Primary School, when Jerry had presented her with a poem and some hand-picked flowers.
Jerry hits the deck...
The encounter was to get yet more spectacular, as the team lined up for a shot and Jerry, spotting the opportunity for some cheap PR, whipped out the famous mouse-shaped LondonMICE business flyer, just in time for the click of the shutter. But his sudden action sparked panic amongst the royal body-guards, who wasted no time in flooring the shameless promoter and apprehending the mouse.
The confusing situation was quickly resolved, and the Queen left to go about her business unhindered. Importantly we got the shot, and jerry (though a little shaken) got his mouse back and is fine.
