In a leafy, secluded square at the heart of Bloomsbury, The Foundling Museum provides an inspiring testament to philanthropy, creativity and the human spirit. The Museum celebrates the Foundling Hospital; established in 1739, as England’s first home for abandoned children, the Hospital became the first public art gallery in London and the British home of Handel’s Messiah.
Stunning
The Museum displays stunning historical interiors alongside an inspiring social history collection. It's beautiful historic spaces and cool, airy contemporary galleries combine to offer guests a perfect private view and an ideal treat for dinners, receptions, and recitals. In addition, the Museum is arranged over four floors. Receptions can occupy the entire Museum, allowing guests to enjoy all of its varied galleries. For dinners, guests will have the opportunity to view the entire Museum before focusing their event in one of the historical spaces.
The Court Room
Designed by William Hogarth, in the 1740s, to incorporate its paintings harmoniously into the ornate Rococo interior, the Court Room hosts exclusive dinners just as it did in Hogarth’s day, when he and his contemporaries passionately discussed the arts and the establishment of a Royal Academy.
The original, Eighteenth Century, Rococo interior adorned with paintings from Contemporary masters provides a stunning space in which to hold, more intimate, exclusive dinners.
The Picture Gallery
This impressive, spacious, gallery was the first public art gallery in London; it is the ideal space in which to hold a grand reception or dinner, amongst some of the nations great art treasures. The Gallery also provides an atmospheric and historic location for concerts and lectures.
