LondonMICE Members Share Their Wisdom at the National Incentive Show

4 October 2007

Paul Cook (MD of Clarity Event Insurance) and Richard Waddington (CEO of First Protocol and Cluster Champion of LondonMICE) give visitors to the National Venue and Incentive Shows the benefit of their experience in incentive travel.

Starving for thought food
We all know how viltal incentive travel can be to a business - but we all don't know how to fully maximize its potential in our business. So you can imagine the general relief when the National Incentive Show promised a seminar that,

"will equip you with the skills for organising Incentive Travel including the golden rules, risk management, quantifying the benefits and latest trends such as Incentive Travel going green."

To the rescue
Among others, Richard Waddington flew to the rescue with a seminar on the "golden rules" of incentive travel. This included objectives, budget, demographics, promotion, awards and post event survey. Paul Cook also Superman-ed to the rescue - with  a presentation of his Event RESCUE Plan which gives simple advice on how to manage risks away before the incentive or other event. This covers how to responsibly plan for risk, whether you are organising a walk in the park or a run in the Amazon jungle!

However, as vital as incentive travel is, one should not leave everything on auto-pilot. The incentive event itself is only the platform on which we must build.

Events are not enough

According to Richard Waddington, events are not the stand alone solution, they are a tool in the marketer’s tool box which allows for the facilitation of face to face human interaction – an environment in which to communicate, to build and deepen relationships, to share knowledge, to glean understanding, to bond.

Creating the right environment is one thing, having people who know how to use such environments and optimise their use is another.
