Green Mark Given To Mayfair Cavendish Conference Centres

15 February 2008

The prestigious Green Mark award has been given to Mayfair Cavendish Conference Centres making it the only group of venues in London to have received the award.

What Is Green Mark?
Green Mark is a certification which enables businesses to improve their environmental performance and gain recognition for doing so.

Still Aiming For More

Even though it has already gained an award for the extensive recycling scheme, Mayfair Cavendish Conference Centres aims to build on the success by being the only WASTE NEUTRAL group of conference centres in London by the end of 2008. This will mean that it will landfill less than 2% of all the waste generated.

How To Achieve Success:
In order to conquer the aim, there are three things that have to be done:-

  • Continue the commitment to a quantised month by month reduction in major waste streams.
  • Trial a scheme where by customers are offered a £2.00 reduction per delegate if they take all their waste away with them, similarly there will be a £2.00 surcharge if any waste is left to dispose of.
  • Aim to find a way to compost and so recycle all food waste by the end of the year. If this is achieved it will be the only London venue to achieve this. (Taken from www.mayfaircavendish.com).

So wish The Mayfair Cavendish Conference Centres luck on their quest as we all support the go green operation and aim to improve our recycling where possible.
